How to make this seasoned chicken wings recipe

One of the best things about this recipe is that it is ready in less than an hour—perfect for those times when friends come over with very little notice. It is also great for any busy weeknight.

Preheat the oven

Start by preheating your oven to 450°F (230°C). Finely mince the garlic and set it aside.

How to split chicken wings

You’ll get more chicken pieces if you cut the chicken wings at the joints. Each wing will yield a flat and a drumstick.

To split chicken wings, locate the joint between the drumette and the flat. Use a sharp knife or kitchen shears to cut through the joint — the tip can be discarded or saved for stock.

If you are only having a few friends over, you can also leave the wings intact and skip this step. This gives you one wing per serving instead of two smaller pieces.

Make the garlic and herb seasoning mix

I love to incorporate fresh herbs into most of my recipes. The flavor is so much more robust, and fresh herbs are easy to grow at home.

This zesty chicken wing seasoning mix features a combination of some commonly used fresh herbs, as well as some flavorful dried herbs.

Combine the minced garlic with the fresh and dried herbs in a small bowl and mix them well to combine.

Seasoning the chicken pieces

Place the seasoning mixture in a resealable plastic bag. Add the chicken pieces to the plastic bag. Seal the bag and shake it to coat the wings evenly.

Add the honey to the bag, seal it again, and move the pieces of chicken around in the bag so that they are well coated with the honey and seasonings.

The honey adds a lovely sweet taste to the chicken wings and makes the spice mixture stick to them easily.

Bake the herb chicken wings

Arrange the wings in a single layer on an oven-safe baking pan.

Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until cooked through and no longer pink. (Add an extra five minutes if you use the whole wing.) With this easy recipe, the honey chicken wings will be ready as soon as your party guests arrive – with very little work on your part!

Tip: If you prefer, you can throw the wings on the grill when the guests arrive and let them cook as you start the party.

Serving the garlic and herb chicken wings

The chicken is moist and delicious with a sweet crunch to the outside of the wings. Serve wings with a homemade ranch dressing, bleu cheese dressing, or some tzatziki sauce.
