These tender pork spare ribs are so easy to make, and are great served either hot or at room temperature. Great for a casual dinner party since you can make them ahead of time.

The ribs are really tender and the meat is so flavorful that you don’t have to add  any extra BBQ sauce unless you really like that flavor (I don’t so these appeal to me for that reason.)

ingredients for spare ribsAssemble your ingredients – maple sugar, light soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, garlic salt, champagne vinegar, spare ribs, and baking soda.

Sliced spare ribsFirst slice the ribs into individual pieces.

Marinade for spare ribsCombine the honey, soy sauce, vinegar, garlic and brown sugar.

Add the baking sodaThen stir in the baking soda. The mixture will begin to foam.

Coat the spare ribsTransfer ribs to the bowl, and turn to coat.

Spare ribs in marinadeCover a cookie sheet with foil, and arrange the ribs meat side up on the sheet. Pour excess sauce over all, and sprinkle with the garlic salt.

Bake for 1 hour, turning every 20 minutes.  Serve with a tossed salad and garlic bread for a tasty week night meal.

Tender Pork Spare Ribs

These pork spareribs have a maple syrup and soy sauce marinade. They are the ultimate in grilled meat taste but made in the oven.

Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 1 hour
Total Time 1 hour 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 4 pounds pork spareribs
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup champagne vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp garlic salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 º F (190 º C).
  2. Slice the ribs into individual pieces. In a large bowl, combine the maple syrup, soy sauce, vinegar, garlic and brown sugar. Stir until the maple syrup and sugar are completely dissolved, then stir in the baking soda. The mixture will begin to foam. Transfer ribs to the bowl, and turn to coat.
  3. Cover a cookie sheet with al foil, and arrange the ribs meat side up on the sheet. Pour the extra sauce over all, and sprinkle with the garlic salt.
  4. Bake for 1 hour, turning every 20 minutes.
