These are 10 of the Best Family Christmas Movies that we watch in our home year after year.
Are you a fan of watching Xmas movies over the holidays with family? At our house, the tradition starts on Thanksgiving and continues right up to New Year’s Eve!
These are some of my favorite Christmas movies.
For a long as I can remember, one of my favorite parts of the holiday season is watching all of the Christmas Classics on DVD. I think I have watched just about every one made.
But when I look back, it seems that 10 of them always seem to keep getting watched year after year.
One of my family’s favorite traditions is to have our Christmas dinner later in the day and then spend the evening watching our favorite holiday movies with a big bucket of popcorn.
We normally get a new movie in the presents and it’s fun to just snuggle in with the family for a night of holiday fun.
I thought it would be neat to put together my list of my 10 best family Christmas movies. Is your favorite on my list?

They are suitable for all ages and you'll be in the Christmas spirit from start to finish!
Anyone who loves Christmas Classics probably has this family Christmas movie on their top 10 list too.
Who can forget the classic phrase spoken so often in the movie: “you’ll shoot your eye out.”
Remember seeing Ralphie in a pink bunny suit? This is a scene that I want to see every year. This movie has so many good points, so it is at the top of my list.
This is one of the first Christmas movies that airs on Thanksgiving each year. It is a true classic that originally aired in 1965.
Discouraged by the commercialism surrounding Christmas, Charlie Brown is trying to find the true meaning of Christmas.
If your heart doesn’t melt watching Charlie with his little runt of a Christmas tree, you must be Scrooge.
I prefer the cartoon version of this Christmas classic over the Jim Carey one but both are movies we re-watch.
There is just something about that simplicity of the cartoon that appeals to me more.
Award-winning actress Mary Steenburgen gives a stunning performance as Ginny Grainger, a young mother who rediscovers the joy and beauty of Christmas.
This happens primarily due to the unshakable faith of her six-year-old daughter Abbie and the help of Gideon, played by Harry Dean Stanton, who is Ginny’s very own guardian angel.
This one is a movie I discovered years ago on the Disney channel and it’s become a favorite of mine.
Speaking of Scrooge, we move on to the joys of all of the Christmas Spirits. It was hard for me to choose just one of the DVDs that have been made into this Christmas movie.
I have watched them all but George C Scott as Scrooge is probably my favorite version.
Our family loves this one over all of the cartoon Christmas movies.
Even though our daughter is grown when she returns for the holidays, we always seem to watch Frosty each year.
My daughter’s favorite family Christmas movie is this one. She loves to watch it every year!
There are many romantic comedies that make their way into the Christmas Classic market, but Love Actually tops my list.
It has a great cast and is a story that follows eight couples whose lives intersect shortly before Christmas. Very charming and heartwarming and a must see!
We first watched this remake of the beloved Children’s book by Raymond Briggs when Jess was a child. Having enjoyed reading the book to my daughter made this also one of our favorites.
It is the story of the magical adventure of discovery where the snowman explores the young boy’s world and in return takes him flying to his home in the North Pole.
No list of the best family Christmas movies would be complete without mention of this true Classic.
Will Clarence the angel be able to convince George to return to his family and forget suicide?
There were very mixed reviews on this Christmas movie when it first aired in 2004.
Both critics and audiences were divided between those who hailed it as an instant classic that captures the visual splendor and evocative innocence of Chris Van Allsburg’s popular children’s book, and those who felt that the innovative use of “performance capture”–to accurately translate live performances into all-digital characters–was an eerie and not-quite-lifelike distraction from the story’s epic-scale North Pole adventure.
Either way, our family considers it a must see every year.
