It’s time for a shed makeover. My garden shed is definitely in need of some decor.
I see so many garden sheds that are as sweet as can be. Some are tiny, some are huge and all seem to have character.
I have one of the “huge without character” types. My husband and his friend built it. We store things in it and never give it a second thought other than that.
Let’s play dress up the garden shed
When my gardening group of friends decided to have a round up of garden sheds, I thought “oh oh…”
However, then I decided to try and get creative…”What about some plants near the door, I asked myself?” So, I lugged two huge planters from my deck.
Now it looks like a garden shed that needs TLC with two plants near the door. Plus, I can’t open the left door to get the tools out!
Next, I thought “What if I take a photo of it peeking through my magnolia tree.
I bet that will make it look better!”
Now it’s a mysterious garden shed that needs TLC.
Not to be thwarted in my quest, I stepped back a few feet to include my garden seat and bench that overlooks my test garden.
Getting better but now I have something on my “to do” list. (clean the algae off my garden seat!)
I have just realized I spent 1/2 hour on a hopeless task. My garden shed needs TLC no matter now many photos I take of it or from what angle.
I think I will ask the fans of the Gardening Cook to help me dress up my Garden Shed.
What do you think I should do with my garden shed to dress it up? Please leave your comments below!

Hi Carol, I agree that some earth or wood-colored paint (like red or brown) would look good on your shed. You could paint it with some motifs and not just paint all of the sides and roof the same color. Good luck on dressing up your shed!

I think it would look nice to either plant your choice of plants around it, or, put plants on blocks around it and layer them down.... not blocking the doors of course. You could then paint the doors differently if you would like...

That's a good idea Deborah. I have an expanding garden in front of the shed and there will be a path to it when I get that far in my project. I'll be incorporating plants around the shed then.

I think it would look neat to paint the doors a bright red.
