15 Creative Garden Benches

I love all types of outdoor seating but garden benches are my favorite place to have a rest.

Anyone who visits my home and walks around my gardens knows that I have a LOVE of outdoor seating.

I have 8 garden beds and 7 garden seating areas.  Pretty much anywhere you walk in my gardens will take you to a place to sit and admire them or to spend some time in meditation. These 15 Creative Garden Benches will have you relaxing in style in your garden setting. thegardeningcook.com

elax in style this summer with one of these creative garden benches.

Garden benches will give us a cozy corner to sit, relax, and smell the roses.  A well designed garden bench can change the look of any garden bed.

You can integrate it to match the surroundings.    Good designs don’t have to be expensive either.

Some can be DIY garden projects, or even freebies, if you scour online sites like Craig’s list.  They come in a variety of sizes, so they can be created for the space you have available.

These creative garden benches should give you some inspiration to get your started in your planning.

Carved figure on a log garden bench

I love everything about this scene, from the log garden bench to the gnome in the bird house and the hand carved man sitting there.

If you have a knack for wood carving, this is the ultimate visitor garden bench that would add a whimsical touch to any garden setting.

Green garden benchColor is the key to the beauty of this garden setting.  Two rounded garden benches have been joined in a circle and painted a bright green to match the tree like setting. What a place to relax!

Recycled wood garden bench

If you have some old wood that has been reclaimed, it can be made into a unique garden bench. I love the colors that make up the slats of this garden bench.

Just start with a plan for a basic garden bench and put that old wood to use.

Matching garden benches make an eating area

I LOVE this idea. Two matching metal garden benches are teamed up with a metal table for the ultimate outdoor eating area.

Wrought iron garden benches are some of my favorites and I adore the way that these are being used.

Plank garden bench

This is simplicity in a garden bench that somehow really fits the scene. I can picture this one near a walk that leads to a beach.

The simple wild flowers and plain picket fend matches the plain wooden plank bench that could be a weekend DIY project.

Garden bench slider and magnolia tree

This park bench slider seating area is in my back test garden.  The Magnolia tree gives ample shade to it for most of the day, so it is the perfect spot for us to sit, even during the hottest summer days.

Fabric outdoor pillows make is so comfy too.  This is one of my favorite places to read.

Garden swing

I don’t know if I would ever want to leave this spot!  I love everything about this garden swing. The shape of the seat reminds me of old Bentwood rockers.

It is the perfect seat for a small area of the garden, and the canopy gives extra shade from the sun.

Stone garden benches

Not all garden benches are wooden. There are many styles of stone benches too.  This seating area is the perfect spot for morning breakfast.

It would look best in a more formal garden setting.

Garden bench with a flowered back

Do you like color in your garden? This would make a special garden spot pop wouldn’t it?  Big white, hand painted, flowers add a bright flash of color.

Metal backed garden bench

This traditional park bench style is simple but has so much detail at the same time. I love the curved iron arms and the back lattice work section ties the whole bench together.  Just perfect!

Garden swing and adirondack chairs My husband loves to look in the free section of Craig’s list each night to see what he can find for our gardens.

So far this year, it has been about 150 liriope plants, that now edge my test garden bed, and this amazing garden swing.

It is missing the canopy but still looks great in my Southwest garden. I have teamed it up with a couple of plastic Adirondack chairs for a really charming garden setting.

Zen garden benches

Got a yen for zen?  These four rounded garden seats are formed in a circle in the middle of a cluster of bamboo.

What a perfect spot for some garden meditation!

Wooden garden bench

Cup of tea anyone?  This plain wooden garden bench is doubling as a plant stand.  It is the perfect accent for any cottage garden.

Metal garden bench

This sleek metal garden bench has been teamed up with a couple of wine barrel planters for a rustic look.  They add just the right touch of color to what would otherwise be a plain setting.

Park bench and pillows.

Finally, this simple park bench setting completes the list.  It is teamed up with an outdoor wooden coffee table.  This garden bench graces my test garden and is my favorite place to have breakfast in the morning.

It is surrounded by flowers and bulbs and is just awash with color in mid summer.creative garden benches
