Decorating your yard with creative metal yard art can add a wonderful touch of whimsy to your outdoor garden space!
I recently spent a week in a lovely cottage in the mountains of North Carolina. It was a great get away with my husband, daughter and her boyfriend.
We spent the time driving around the areas, visiting the arts and crafts river district and visiting Biltmore Estate.
I LOVED the cottage where we stayed. The owner is a friend of ours and is a big fan of metal yard art. She had it displayed in various parts of the garden. I thought it would be fun to showcase some of the metal yard art in photos.
If you love this type of outdoor decor, this should give you lots of great inspiration.
I took so many photos that I can’t put them all into one blog post. Stay tuned for more later!
For this post, I am concentrating on bugs, flowers and other critters. Each of these displays is hand painted and displayed on long poles in the various garden beds. This makes the forms sit above the plants so that it can easily be seen and admired.
If you have an interest in metal yard art, but sure to have a look at my post on Tizer Botanic Garden. The entire garden is full of creative and whimsical metal garden art.
Creative Metal Yard Art Inspiration:
Are you a music lover? These adorable metal yard art frogs were right outside the door of our cottage and gave us a whimsical greeting each time we came home!
This is one of my favorites. The watering can is hand hammered and has the best detail. Water gets added in the hole in the top and comes out of his snout.
I’ve seen pig watering cans in the past, but this one really spoke to me. I would love to have one myself!
This creative metal yard art butterfly was HUGE. He took up a really big portion of a wooden fence. I love the colors and design, particularly where the mesh is open and shows through to the background.
This was just one of several metal butterflies in the yard.
This sweet humming bird feeder is made from two hummers and a small red flower that holds hummingbird nectar.
It was in the front of the house near a patio seating area and I actually saw hummingbirds feeding from the tiny feeder! See how to make your own hummingbird nectar here.
Isn’t this guy a hoot? This big creative metal yard art bird bath is so funky looking. I love the way his foot is up in the air.
Rebar makes his legs and feet and this design is just adorable!
No collection of creative metal yard art would be complete without a flower or two. This one was enormous. Bright yellow and a center that is so intricate. I like the way the inner petals curl.
Most of the yard art decor was in a garden bed around the property. But this display makes great use of a big tree.
Flowers are attached both to the tree and the little bee and flowers was placed at the foot of the trunk. They look great together!
The bedroom of the cottage had a wonderful view of a sloping back yard. This dry creek bed shows how deep the back yard drop off was. This cute metal lobster seems to be concerned that there is no water for him to take a swim in!
These colorful metal chickens see to be saying “The sky is falling!” Their pretty yellow and blue colors make them perfect for a beach bungalow garden scene!
Finishing up our creative metal yard art collection is this pretty flower and dragonfly[ stake that sits gracefully above a very healthy looking hydrangea bush.
Be sure to check back soon. I will have another collection of this fabulous metal yard art to share with you!
