Why not make your own with a similar mix of spices and none of the bad stuff?
Printable Recipe – DIY Taco Seasoning
This recipe is so easy. Just measure out the spices, combine them in a bowl and store in an air tight jar.
You will probably have all the spices on hand to make the seasoning mix. You’ll need chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder (I used minced onion since that is what I had), crushed red pepper, oregano, paprika, cumin, salt and pepper.

I made extra and got two small sized spice jars of the taco seasoning. I just happened to have two empty spice jars. I also clean out my spice cupboards while I was at it. It is amazing what you find when you do this. I had doubles of spices I thought I was out of!

Make Your Own Taco Seasoning

This taco seasoning has no chemicals and is super easy to make.
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp of Mexican style chili powder
- 1 tsp of garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion flakes
- 1/2 tsp of crushed red pepper
- 1/2 tsp of dried oregano
- 1 tsp of ground paprika
- 1 tbsp of ground cumin (or more! that is what gives the seasoning the traditional smell)
- 1 tsp of Kosher salt
- 1 tsp of cracked black pepper
Instructions
- Combine all of the ingredients in a small bowl. Mix until well combined.
- Store in air tight jars.
