Dress up your yard with Galvanized garden decor.
Galvanized Garden decor is quite popular right now. It has a rustic appeal and seems to go well with plants and other outside items. I particularly like to use galvanized planters for indoor plants, so that they will keep their lovely condition without worrying about the weather.
Here are some of my favorite galvanized garden decor ideas.

This row of galvanized planters on a grey stone wall showcases the spring bulbs in a beautiful way and looks like an English Cottage Garden. Image shared from Better Homes and Gardens.
When my parents moved from Arkansas to Illinois they brought with them their lifestyle. My father grew beautiful flowers like this in ordinary containers. People in Illinois laughed at them and called them Hillbillies. I am so happy to be getting such sweet revenge with this style’s popularity. Thank you so much.
Nice comment you have a great father.
I love galvanized planters especially pails and laundry tubs!
Me too Carlene. They really have a cottage garden look to them. Carol
I found great galvanized buckets of all different shapes/sizes at my county flea market. I have an old wood stove that I put old pots and pans that I plant succulents in. The look is very country.
I wish I could find some that is reasonably priced. Anytime I find them, the prices are through the roof!
When planting plants in galvanized tubs and/or pans do you make drainage holes in the tubs for the water to drain? (I’m planting vegetables)
Hi Renita, All planters need drainage. You can do this by drilling holes, or adding a layer of gravel or other material that will allow water to sit below. Most of the time I drill holes. Carol
Want to know how to prepare surface to paint on?
Hi Janice, I have never tried it myself but have heard that all you have to do is apply household vinegar to a clean rag and then wipe down the galvanized surface. The acidity of the vinegar will react with the metal, treating the surface so the paint will stick. Carol
