Fudge Brownie Truffles – Tasty Holiday Party Recipe

‘Tis the season for fudge, brownies, and truffles. These Fudge Brownie Truffles combine all of my favorite tastes in one delicious brownie-flavored bite.

They are so tasty that they’ll deserve pride of placement on your holiday dessert table.

The holidays give me an excuse to cook up a batch or two of my favorite treats.  I know that we’ll have guests coming and going, so I won’t have to deal with sweet treats calling my name (and my hips) every second of the day. These fudge brownie truffles are such a decadent holiday treat. They are super easy to make and so festive on your party table.

I recently made some brownie pops in fun Christmas shapes.  I made them by cooking a huge pan of fudge brownies and then used a sharp cookie cutter to cut them into festive shapes.

The brownie pops turned out great and our party guests loved them, but I had a big bowl of brownie “scraps” left over.  I didn’t want to throw them away.

I didn’t trust myself to have them sitting on the counter while I decided what to do with them.

(My stomach doesn’t care if it’s pretty…only if it’s tasty, and brownie scraps fit that bill very nicely!)

Lucky for me, brownie scraps also make great Fudge Brownie Truffles.

(This post contains affiliate links for your cooking experience.) To make these Fudge Brownie Truffles you will need the following ingredients:

  • one box of fudge brownies, cooked, cooled, and made into crumbs
  • chocolate morsels.  I used white chocolate and then separated a bag of holiday red and green morsels mixed with chocolate to give me four colors
  • about 1/4 cup milk
  • Festive holiday sprinkles.  I used pearls, chocolate sprinkles, funfetti sprinkles, and red/pink sprinkles.
  • miniature paper muffin cups in a holiday design

If you are starting with a whole pan of brownies and not leftover bits, trim the hard edges from the brownies.

They won’t crumble well and won’t form into balls very easily.  Discard the edges. (yeah right….) Then take all the leftover brownie bits, and fluff them so that they form a sort of crumb mixture.

Be sure not to overbake the brownies and don’t substitute applesauce for oil.  The brownies need to be very fudgy to stick together when you make the balls.Cooked and trimmed brownies

Using a small cookie scoop, scoop out about a tablespoon or so of the brownie mixture.  Roll it into balls.

(I inserted a cake pop stick into each ball to make dipping easier later but if you have a candy dipping set, you won’t need to do this.

I removed my sticks and used mini muffin cups to serve mine, but you could also keep the cake pop stick in and serve them this way if you wish.)Balls of brownie mixture

The brownie balls are easier to dip if they are quite hard, so I stuck them into the freezer for a couple of hours.

Mix each of your chocolate morsels with about a teaspoon of milk and microwave for about 1 minute until the chocolate is melted and very smooth and silky.  I did my colors one at a time since the chocolate firmed up quickly.

Hold the cake pop stick and dip the brownie ball into the melted chocolate. Add a few holiday sprinkles and allow the truffle chocolate to set.Melted chocolate for fudge brownie truffles
