Make your own room deodorizer with orange and Lemon.
Store bought room deodorizers smell lovely but can add up in cost over time. This DIY room deodorizer gives off a lovely aroma and also are very inexpensive to make. The recipe is made with oranges, lemons, cinnamon and star anise but there are lots of other combinations that work too.
The main thing to remember is that this deodorizer will not give off an over powering smell. It has a very subtle fragrance. The beauty of a DIY deodorizer is that all you have to do is simmer some sweet smelling ingredients in water. The steam fills the air with a pleasant scent. No spraying is needed.
The combination can also be reheated later for another refreshening of the room.
- Orange Slices
- Lemon slices
- 2 sticks of cinnamon
- star anise pods (could also use cloves for a different scent)
Combine all of the ingredients in a pan of water and heat. This combination has both a wonderful aroma and also great staying power. This scent carries into multiple rooms better, and it can be reheated to scent your rooms for several days.
You can heat the ingredients in many ways – a saucepan, an uncovered rock pot, a fondue pot, a mug warmer or a candle warmer. So it can be done in a variety of rooms.
